6/5: The Body — Walking in Encouragement

We are finishing up the book of Ephesians, saying goodbye to the counsel and commands given by God through Paul to the churches in Ephesus and the surrounding area. We will be examining how Paul concludes, what his final wishes are for the Church and then taking a broad survey, or a final look, at the entire book of Ephesians and how it fits together. I have thoroughly enjoyed studying through the book and I trust the Lord has worked in your heart as a result of this study. Ephesians 6:21-24 Sunday morning. Prepare your hearts by reading through the material this week. Ephesians Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:3, "Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places."...

May 29: The Body — Walking in the Battle

The battle is on. The battle is real. We are in a fight with spiritual forces. We wrestle against cosmic powers over this present darkness. This is a battle we must acknowledge exists, a battle that we must understand, before we have a hope of standing effectively against the schemes of the devil. We will be looking at the battle and the methods used to engage in this warfare this next week. Pray for our Church body to really understand and to take to heart these realities as we come to discuss it this following Sunday. Ephesians Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:3, "Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places." This Week's Verse: Ephesians 6:11, "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." ...

May 22: The Body — Walking in Relationship

Relationships define Ephesians 5:22-6:9. Rather, Ephesians 5:22-6:9 defines relationships: (1) Christ and the Church relationships, (2) husband and wife relationships, (3) parent and child relationships, and (4) master and slave relationships. God has a natural ordering of society, of life. This ordering is for our good. Unfortunately, our society almost uniformly disagrees with these biblical norms. Because of this, it is more important than ever to investigate how are we supposed to structure our lives and how these relationships are supposed to work. Come and check out God's ideal relationship structures this coming Sunday. Ephesians Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:3, "Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places." This Week's Verse: Ephesians 5:33, "However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband." ...

May 15, The Body: Walking as Light

Light vs. Darkness is where we are headed this week. We will be discussing the lifestyle of those who live in darkness and some practical steps for living as light in the world around us. The days are evil around us. We then need to evaluate carefully how we walk. The main goal is to be led continually by the Spirit in our lives, seeking His will for our lives and drawing near to the Father in our mindset, our attitudes and our actions. Looking forward to a solid discussion of Ephesians 5:1-21. Ephesians Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:3, "Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places." This Week's Verse: Ephesians 5:15-16, "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, [16] making the best use of the time, because the days are evil." ...

May 8, The Body: The New Life in the Body

Paul does some serious straight talk in Ephesians 4:17-32. He levels his eyes into our daily walk and says that the stuff that doesn't belong to God's character has to stop. It's incompatible with our lives in Christ. We've been made alive. We have been made new. What exactly does Paul target in this section? How does he justify this change of lifestyle? Check out Ephesians 4:17-32 this week and prepare your hearts to experience God's message for your life through His Word....

May 1, The Body: Walking with the Body

Ephesians 4:1-16 is coming up with its emphasis on walking together in unity and purpose. Paul emphasizes the "oneness" of our unity and perspective, using the word "one" at least eight times in four verses. He emphasizes the overarching purpose of what we're doing, growing in maturity and stability. The way we approach life is distinct from the world around us. Our actions in how we conduct ourselves are also unique. Paul is urging his readers to walk in a manner worthy of our calling. How does that play out in our lives? Ephesians Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:3, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places." This Week's Verse: Ephesians 4:1, "I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called. ...

April 24, The Body: The Prayer for Strength

In today's message, we get the chance to listen in on Paul's desire and prayer for the believers in Ephesus as he wraps up this theologically-heavy section in Ephesians 1-3. In particular, he prays for the "inner being" to be developed: Christ coming to dwell in our hearts, being rooted and grounded in love. This is a big task, something we can't do on our own but only through the power and leading of the Spirit. Be praying this week for God to open the eyes of your heart to see and understand the message He has for us in Ephesians 3:14-21. This Week's Verse: Ephesians 3:20-21, "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, [21] to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."...

April 10, The Body: One in Christ

This Sunday we're talking about the historical reality of what happened when we came to a saving knowledge and belief in Christ. We were separated from grace, from a relationship with God, but have been brought near to Him through Christ alone. The reality of what happened behind the scenes, Christ's blood changing our status before God, removes the hostility not only between us and God, but also between us and others who follow Him. We are fellow citizens. We have unity. We will be discussing how this plays out in our lives....

April 3, The Body: The Dead to Life

We will be looking at Ephesians 2:1-10 this week. It is an amazing passage detailing our lives before Christ (i.e. dead) and how we received this new life. It's also a big passage because one of the most famous and most quoted Scriptures is found here (Eph. 2:8-9). We were dead. We are now alive. How did that happen? What was needed? How much effort do I have to put into getting my salvation? How am I supposed to live now that I'm alive in Christ? Come and explore Ephesians 2:1-10 with us Sunday morning....
